Children
While the Scottish games usually focus on adult audiences and contests, there are also events that are organized with the children in mind. Most of these are the standard children’s games that can be found at many festivals and the majority of the kids will be well familiar with the rules of the contest. One of the most popular of the children’s games is the sack race, in which a child has to put their legs and feet and race against others to the finish line. Another frequent choice is the egg and spoon race where the child must combine speed and concentration to be the winner. In this event, an egg is carried in a spoon from the starting to the finishing line. If the egg is dropped, the child must start over again. In this manner, the fastest child is not always the winner as it takes a decent bit of skill to keep the egg from falling.
