Bonnie Knees
In any Highland Games celebration, one of the most popular events is the bonnie knees contest. In this competition, a trio of ladies from the audience are selected to be judges and a number of men sign up to be the contestants. The ladies are then blindfolded and are forced to judge the knees of the men using only the sense of touch as a point of reference. The area that is allowed to be touched is the small space between the top of the man’s hose and the bottom hem of his kilt. The man with the nicest knees wins the bonnie knees contest, but there are also a few special awards given to other men as well. One of the more popular special awards is that of the most dimpled knees. The bonnie knees contest has become a regular part of many worldwide Scottish games competitions in a number of countries.
